Mount Pleasant

Mt Pleasant is located just east of Charleston across the Cooper River. It was founded in 1680 and is home to many beautiful neighborhoods, the oldest one being the historic Old Village which was developed along the harbor, overlooking downtown Charleston. Mount Pleasant is also home to many fine restaurants along Shem Creek where shrimp boats still ply the waters followed by the inevitable flock of impatient seagulls looking for an easy meal.

The town has experienced incredible growth in the past twenty years and began a new era in July of 2006 with the opening of the new 590 foot tall Arthur Ravenel Bridge which connects the town to downtown Charleston. The Ravenel Bridge is now the tallest structure in the state of South Carolina and was the most expensive public works project in the history of South Carolina.
